Christmas and 2023 are just around the corner and Chinese New Year is on the 22nd of January.

How will you celebrate this year’s festivities?

For the past 2 years, everything was at a standstill due to the Covid pandemic. Family members resorted to virtual celebrations – Zoom calls, WhatsApp chats, emails and phone calls.

However, right now, boarders for most countries are open. Airlines are flying again and people are starting to travel for family gatherings and celebrations.

So what’s your plan this year? Will you be meeting up with your family to celebrate the festivities?

These festive seasons are one of the highlights for family gatherings and connections. It is a time for family and friends to come together, to share, connect and to enjoy each other’s company.

Whether you are meeting up in person or celebrating with family and friends virtually, take this opportunity to connect with your relatives and friends and share the festivities together.

This is the time to reconnect to your roots. Be it your traditions and rituals, or the traditional dishes and desserts, use this opportunity to share your culture and traditions with your family, especially your children who have grown up in a different culture.

Share with them how you traditionally celebrate these occasions, what dishes you normally would cook, and with whom you shared these festivities with.

On top of that, introduce your traditional dishes to your children. Teach them how to prepare and cook those dishes and the rituals that are associated with the celebrations.

Festivities are meant to bring families together, to share, to connect and to have fun together, while sharing culture and traditions together.

Finally, whether you are celebrating in person or virtually, have a wonderful time with your FAMILY!
