Today is the 6th day of Chinese New Year; we are still on the phone with relatives and friends overseas, wishing each other well and catching up on the latest news.

With each of them sharing their new year celebrations videos and photos of family reunions and celebrations together, you can hear laughter and chatting from the background, then the few seconds chat with each of your relatives. From the images we have quick glimpses of the celebrations, the food, the people attending the gathering…

During this auspicious time, when we really make the time to reconnect, we will realise how much we miss the closeness of the people we grew up with. We experience the bonding, the fun and laughter that we are so familiar with as well as the language and the food that we are so accustomed to.

On top of the good old times, it is then we realise our parents, aunties, uncles and other relatives are aging. How precious is the time we have with them.

How many more precious gatherings will there be? How many elderly relatives will still be able to attend future gatherings?

I am repurposing an article I wrote last year – Don’t wait until major festivities to connect!

Have an amazing day ahead.
