Every year I scribble a very short message wishing all mums, grandmas, foster mums, and the motherly figures of mums all over the world a very Happy Mother’s Day.

This year is no different; however, today, I thought I’d elaborate a bit more on this special day.

So…What is Mother’s Day to you?

For many, Mother’s Day is known to be honouring mothers all over the world for their dedications, influences, their sacrifices, and the unconditional love for their children, whether biological or not.

As Mothers, they have great influences on the development of their children, by developing their values, influencing their attitudes and cultivating their perceptions about themselves and the world. Because for most of us, our mothers are our first teachers, influencers, and our greatest supporters.

They are the go-to person when we are hungry, or seek comfort when things become difficult. They are there for us when we are unwell, and they celebrate with us when we are happy. They also can fight with us when we try to push and reset our boundaries.

Mothers do all these while we develop in to the confident adults we were meant to be. We always know that their unconditional love and support will always be there throughout the journey to adulthood and beyond, despite the cultural differences throughout the world.

So, do you plan to celebrate Mother’s Day this year?

So, do you plan to celebrate Mother’s Day this year?

How will you celebrate?

Will your mum be having breakfast in bed? Will your mum be receiving a bouquet of roses? Or a homecooked meal by you or heading out for dinner with the family? An outing with the family?

For those where your mum is longer with you, I hope you will always hold your mum in a special place in your heart. On this day, I will especially think of my grandma, who is the inspiration of who I am today.

As for my children… I have stated…  on Mother’s day, I am going to do NOTHING! No Cleaning! No Cooking! No Housework ?!!

Here’s wishing all Mums a wonderful and Happy Mother’s Day! May you have a marvellous day celebrating with your family.
