Happy Mother's Day

One day before this wonderful special day, I am already receiving wonderful wishes from family and friends, and I am sure there will be many more well wishes arriving tomorrow through emails and social media.

Do you remember celebrating Mother’s Day when growing up? How did you celebrate?

Personally, I can’t remember celebrating Mother’s Day in Malaysia; I believe I only started celebrating it when I came over to Australia. I remember sending cards back to Malaysia both to my mum and mother-in-law. And later, thanks for my wonderful children, I had the opportunity to celebrate Mother’s Day myself in Australia.

For those many of you, including myself, who are living far away from home and are thinking of your mother today… let’s pick up the phone and convey our well wishes to them personally. For those who are lucky enough to have your mum close by, enjoy your mum’s presence and may you have loving memories of mother’s day together.

So what does Mother’s Day mean to you?

This special day is to honour and reflect on our love and gratitude to our mums who have given birth to us, cared and nurtured us, and ultimately helped to shape us into who we are today.

The word mum, to some people, can mean many things as well. The mum may not be the person giving birth to them, but someone who has played a huge part in their lives by caring, loving and nurturing them. Those people can be their aunties, grandmothers, foster mothers, step-mothers or friends.

Mother’s day is truly a special day to honour ALL Mums in the world! Wishing all of you a wonderful day filled with happy and joyful memories with your loved ones. Be it breakfast in bed, feasting with families or just spending a quiet time with the family.

Have a wonderful Mother’s Day!
